Hi there! We are Fashion À La Mode, and welcome to our blog! My name is Laura. I run this site with one of my closest friends, Jordan. We are normal college students who often get asked about our outfits, so it seemed only fitting that we started teaching our ways on how to be a fashionable mess.
I’m a fourth year finance student, so a lot of my fashion content will be about office wear, but one of my biggest passions is the community and the power of mentorship, so I will be sharing with you some of my experiences out in the community, as well as some of my best tips for your professional life.
I’ve been through it all at this point. I have gotten the “thanks, but no thanks” emails and letters a million times, and I am here to share how I used those rejections to open up new doors, not only academically, but also professionally.
What qualifies me to do this? Well, fun fact about me is that I was actually able to pay for my full undergrad career by piling up small scholarships through the years. I know the formula to writing a compelling scholarship essay, and I cannot wait to share these tips with you.
I also have dedicated my college career to building a strong network of professional connections and have interned with a global consulting firm, so I’m here to teach you how to get past the awkwardness of networking, as well as all my tips to landing an internship/job while you’re still in college!
In short, I am here to be your virtual mentor and to help you navigate through college by teaching you how to take full advantage of all the opportunities at your fingertips! Whether you are a freshman who thinks you have all the time in the world to get it together, or a senior who thinks you’ve run out of time. I’m here to tell you everything is going to be alright. As Elton John said, “It’s never too late to seize the day!”
